The Opportunity

Salary: £25,119 to £26,421 per annum (£15,275 to £16,066 per annum, pro rata)

Working Pattern: Part time, 22.5 hours per week (3 days a week)

Location: Contractual base is Chichester, with hybrid working options.

Are you an experienced payroll professional? We are looking for a part time, permanent Payroll Officer to join our Payroll Control Team and help to ensure the smooth operation of our payroll service.

In this role you will work within a small specialist team and will need to possess excellent organisational and problem-solving skills. Having an eye for detail and positive approach to resolving issues will be invaluable in this role.

Key duties include:

  • Providing specialist advice and support to colleagues on payroll matters. You will be responsible for following specific processes within a defined timescales to ensure the accurate pay day service relating to the County Councils payroll system.
  • You will possess the ability to calculate payroll related information and support colleagues as and when required.
  • You will be required to support on specialist queries from internal and external sources such customers and government bodies.

What are we looking for?

  • You will have sound experience in either pensions or payroll processing, and a strong awareness of the technical considerations and issues relevant to the service.
  • You will be customer centred, and therefore able to articulate complex matters in ways that customers will understand and be able to act on.
  • You will have a strong attention to detail and the ability to concentrate on important tasks in a busy and challenging environment.
  • You will be able to communicate well with others and build strong relationships with team members, supporting others to understand the processes and procedures to be followed.
  • Sound and accurate overall IT knowledge including Excel and be comfortable using and applying complex sets of data.
