Job Title: Bespoke Design Studio Engineer

Location: Goodwood, UK

Job Overview: I am seeking a talented Bespoke Design Studio Engineer to support the development of luxury vehicle projects, providing innovative technical solutions for bespoke designs across all product lines. This role involves close collaboration with designers, research & development teams, production units, and suppliers to deliver exceptional vehicle features that align with design intent while ensuring technical feasibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Integration for Bespoke Projects:

    • Develop technical design solutions for bespoke features, including special commissions and private collections.
    • Collaborate with design teams to generate innovative, practical, and deliverable engineering concepts.
  2. 3D Geometry Creation (CATIA):

    • Represent bespoke design concepts accurately using CATIA software, including fixing and assembly concepts.
    • Ensure clear translation of design intent for technical release and manufacturing feasibility.
  3. Technical Liaison Across Departments:

    • Act as a technical representative in the Design-Technic-Convergence (DTK) process, maintaining detailed records, drawings, and comparisons.
    • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with other departments, supporting technical reviews and resolving design conflicts.
  4. Goodwood-Munich Interface:

    • Serve as the technical bridge between the Munich engineering team and Goodwood's Bespoke Design studio.
    • Foster closer relations and effective communication, ensuring the seamless integration of bespoke designs into engineering workflows.
  5. Design Translation:

    • Interpret design language into technical solutions and convey technical feedback to the design team effectively.
    • Contribute to the progression of the brand's bespoke and concept design vision, generating new, desirable ideas.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant engineering role, with at least 3 years of expertise using CATIA software.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle packaging and both exterior and interior construction techniques.
  • Demonstrated creativity and spatial awareness, with a proven ability to resolve complex design and engineering challenges.
  • Proficiency in CAD (CATIA V5) and PRISMA software.
  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluent in English; German language skills are an advantage.

  • Excellent technical mechanics knowledge and a thorough understanding of bespoke and series manufacturing processes.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively across design and engineering teams.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to handle complex technical investigations and provide creative alternatives.
