Role Overview:

This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) and plant machinery to ensure their safe and efficient operation. The role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, carrying out routine maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults on HGVs and mobile/fixed plant equipment.

  • Carry out both minor and major repairs on fleet vehicles, trailers, and machinery.

  • Perform routine vehicle inspections (PMIs) to identify and address potential safety concerns.

  • Work closely with the Fleet Manager to plan and prioritize maintenance and repairs.

  • Ensure all vehicles and equipment meet required safety and compliance standards.

  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols while carrying out maintenance work.

  • Stay informed about industry regulations and technical advancements.

  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance work, and parts used.

  • Provide clear communication regarding vehicle and equipment conditions, repair timelines, and required parts.

  • Respond to breakdowns and carry out on-site repairs where necessary and safe.

  • Monitor stock levels of essential parts to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.

  • Support the management team in developing risk assessments when required.

  • Foster positive communication with management regarding fleet and plant maintenance.

  • Undertake other relevant duties as needed to support operations.
