The Instructor Technician in STEM role:

Do you want to play a key role in an amazing team at an exciting time for the STEM department?

Chichester College’s STEM Department is seeking an Instructor Technician to assist the Automotive, Engineering and wider STEM Team with day-to-day support and instruction in the workshop and classroom areas.

As our Instructor Technician in STEM, you will instruct and supervise students to ensure success in theory and practical sessions and provide technical support to staff and students, including on the safe use of equipment. You will also be responsible for the daily operation of the workshop equipment, teaching resources and the preparation and supervision of designated areas ready for the teaching to take place.

Key Responsibilities of ourInstructor Technician in STEM:

  • Undertaking administration related to course requirements and provide reports and statistics as required.
  • Participating in marketing activities and promote the College for the purpose of gaining sponsorship, advertising, good public relations and increased recruitment.
  • Liaising with Additional Support in specific cases to ensure students get appropriate support.
  • Participating in curriculum area, College, employer/parent functions, reviews, meetings and promotional activities, as required.
  • Organising daily activities within the learning environment, including the preparation and maintainance of resources, services and housekeeping.
  • Providing assistance to individuals or groups of students within the learning environment.
  • Implementing and maintaining the regulations of the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health legislation, including the reviews of health and safety policies and procedures in the workplace and undertake risk assessments.
  • Participating in course review activities and the generation and implementation of new resources and action plans.

Our ideal Instructor Technician in STEM should have the below skills and experience:

  • Relevant industrial/subject experience
  • Working knowledge of the relevant vocational area
  • Level 2 qualification in the relevant subject area
  • Level 2 in literacy and numeracy, or willingness to work towards
  • The ability to communicate to a diverse range of people at all levels, verbally and in writing
