We are seeking a dedicated Bookkeeper/Assistant Accountant to join a small manufacturing business based in Chippenham, along side a close knit team within a varied role.

The ideal candidate will have a background in finance or accounting and be adept at managing multiple financial tasks efficiently.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Accounts Payable:
    • Process supplier invoices and handle queries and interrogations of the AP Ledger.
    • Conduct monthly supplier statement reconciliations and maintain and resolve any GRNI issues.
  • Budget Management:
    • Support the budgeting process by gathering relevant data and tracking budget adherence throughout the fiscal year.
  • Data Entry & Management:
    • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions using accounting software and assist in month-end reporting.
    • Oversee and control monthly stock counts and reconciliations.
  • Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations related to finance operations.
  • Communication:
    • Liaise with internal departments regarding budget inquiries or financial concerns.
  • Audit Preparation:
    • Provide necessary documentation during audits and assist in responding to auditor requests.
  • Finance Team/HR Requirements:
    • Provide holiday cover for the Finance Assistant and support payroll processing and reporting requirements.
    • Cross-train to provide cover for other accounts and payroll tasks and assist in recording absence management records.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1-3 years of experience in Finance or Accounting roles preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work outputs.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., SAGE, QuickBooks, SAP) is desired.
  • Ability to analyse data effectively and generate reports that provide insights into financial performance.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Team player with a flexible approach and highly motivated individual who can work on own initiative.
