Murray Myers is pleased to be partnering with a Wiltshire-based manufacturer to source a dynamic Business Development Manager. Our client specialises in maximising the service performance of process plant and equipment, offering a comprehensive package that includes design, manufacture, protection, and site installation. With an international customer base, our client operates to the highest standards of quality control, environmental management, and health and safety.

Role Overview:

As the Business Development Manager, you will be the primary contact for managing both existing and new business accounts. You'll work closely with the Owner and Senior Management Team to modernize, improve, and enhance the company's overall processes. Your role will be pivotal in driving growth and commercial success across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Account Management: Plan, manage, and interact with both existing and new customer accounts within the marketplace. Focus on restoring lapsed clients and generating new business.
  • Market Research: Conduct research and gather market intelligence to generate, promote, and convert business opportunities.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team to maximize efforts within the marketplace.
  • Leadership: Display strong leadership qualities and drive commercial focus across the company.
  • Customer Interaction: Regularly visit customers to assess their requirements and identify short, medium, and long-term opportunities.
  • Technical Demonstration: Showcase the technical capabilities and advantages of the company's solutions and services to potential customers.
  • System Compliance: Ensure daily interaction with the company's CRM and ERP systems, adhering to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Sales Coordination: Liaise with the operations team and customers to process active sales orders efficiently.
  • After Sales Support: Assist with after-sales and service queries, investigating customer concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Commercial Acumen: Demonstrate technical and commercial astuteness within a sub-contract engineering environment.
  • Communication: Maintain and build strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
  • Customer Engagement: Initiate customer contact, generate technical inquiries, and commit to following through to execution.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in Business Development Management within an engineering fabrication company.
  • Strong technical and commercial understanding, ideally within a sub-contract engineering environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • A proactive, diligent, and methodical approach to work.
  • A mechanically minded, team-oriented, and ambitious personality.
  • The ability to take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion.
  • Ideally, be located within a commutable distance of Chippenham, Wiltshire, with the flexibility to work remotely but with regular visits to the office.
