The OpportunityWe are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join a special school where you will support students with complex needs, ensuring they have access to a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. This is a highly rewarding role where you will play a vital part in promoting independence, well-being, and communication skills for students with additional needs. You will support students with PMLD, working closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to deliver a holistic and tailored approach to learning. You must be comfortable providing personal care and assisting with mobility, communication, and sensory-based learning activities. Main Responsibilities
- Support students with PMLD in accessing a personalised curriculum.
- Assist with personal care, including toileting, feeding, and moving & handling, ensuring dignity and comfort at all times.
- Work closely with teachers and therapists to implement alternative communication strategies.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support, adapting to the individual needs of each student.
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages engagement and development.
- Help students develop social, emotional, and communication skills.
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience working in a special school, SEND setting, or care environment.
- Comfortable providing personal care and supporting students with complex physical and medical needs.
- High levels of patience, empathy, and resilience.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenges effectively.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.

- Teaching Assistant qualification
- Access to own transport
