We’re working with a large pan-European manufacturing business, which operates 7 days a week, that is actively seeking to add an experienced Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join its site Manufacturing Engineering Support teams.

Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical bias)

40 hours per week - Monday to Friday based on Double Day shift – 6am-2pm/2pm-10pm

Participation in weekend On Call Rota (approx 1 in 5).

Location: nr Chippenham, Wiltshire

Salary: Circa £40,000 plus on call allowance

The position's responsibilities are: 

  • Reactive Maintenance on automated production machinery
  • Pre-planned Maintenance (PPM) - Input to and carry out preventive maintenance routines
  • Mechanical fault finding
  • Fault finding and repair on hydraulic or pneumatic systems
  • Small installation projects
  • Continuous Improvement to maintain optimal machine efficiency
  • To keep clean any areas in which you are working, including transit areas to and from the workshop, the workshop and stores
  • Support the Operations team in achieving targets
  • Complying to the company’s Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Contributing to cost effective technical solutions
  • Deliver to the operational expectations
  • Be part of a weekend call-out rota

To be successful, we would like you to have:

  • A recognised engineering qualification in mechanical engineering to a level of City and Guilds level 3/ NVQ level 3 
  • Have experience working as a Maintenance Engineer or as a dedicated Mechanical Engineer in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the print, packaging or associated industries would be great but is not essential. But experience in a manufacturing or industrial automation environment is critical.
  • Strong mechanical skills to repair machinery to keep downtime to a minimum
  • Excellent mechanical fault finding and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering diagrams
  • Experience with maintenance PPM and RM programmes.
  • Some electrical experience would be beneficial
  • Ideally experience working a buddy system with an Electrical Engineer.
  • Have good communication, organisational and team work skills.
  • Self motivation, ability to apply initiative and determination.

Specific training where required will be provided, OEM suppliers and via remote modem diagnostic support from the OEM.
