As a Maintenance Engineer, you'll be at the heart of ensuring our equipment and machinery run smoothly and safely. You'll handle everything from regular maintenance to urgent repairs, and you'll play a key role in the design, installation, and relocation of machinery.
Your Schedule:
- 4 days on, 4 days off with rotating day and night shifts.
Your Compensation:
- £40,000 - £47,000 per year
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand production priorities to ensure maintenance activities support order fulfillment.
- Inform the operations team of any product safety or quality risks discovered during maintenance.
- Conduct regular maintenance and servicing of machinery and equipment.
- Install new machinery and assist with the relocation and overhauling of existing machines.
- Overhaul and repair plant machinery, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Perform electrical installations and work with single-phase and three-phase electrical circuits.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with our procedures and good manufacturing practices.
- Collaborate with and oversee contractor activities.
- Conduct fault diagnosis, testing, and adjustments, identifying the most cost-effective solutions in the absence of detailed specifications.
- Communicate with the management team regarding engineering issues and repair timelines, seeking guidance when necessary and understanding downtime costs.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Skills/Qualifications Required:
- Recognized engineering/electrical qualifications.
- Awareness of food safety, hygiene, and quality procedures, especially in a maintenance role within a food production setting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, suppliers, contractors, and other key partners.
- Systematic approach to problem-solving with the ability to challenge existing practices constructively.
- Willingness to continuously develop work-related skills and knowledge.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Flexible attitude towards all aspects of the role.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage conflicting demands and interruptions, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
