Factory Technical Manager

Our client are seeking a Technical Manager to join their ready-to-eat production site based in Lacock, Wiltshire. Reporting into the Senior Site Technical Manager, you will be required to strategically manage the technical requirements within the Centre, to achieve the legal, customer, third party and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities – Factory Technical Manager  

  • To provide direction and support to the EIC QA team, managing and facilitating staff performance and development. Ensuring the departmental structure and skills are developed to meet changing business requirements.
  • Coach and guide the wider EIC teams in technical matters helping them make the right food safety, quality, integrity and authenticity decisions
  • To develop, manage and facilitate food safety quality management system policies, procedures and SOP’S to meet our of food safety, quality, authenticity and integrity obligations within the EIC site
  • To maintain and develop the HACCP system operating within EIC to maintain safe systems and products in line with current legislation, customer requirements and the wider business food safety plan
  • Ensure that any changes in product, process or environment within EIC are managed effectively so food safety, quality, authenticity integrity and customer reputation are not compromised
  • To ensure that systems operating within the factory are compatible with BRC Global Standards for Food Safety plus customer and third-party requirements
  • Manage and continuously improve the EIC factory audit programs such
  • Manage and continuously improve the EIC surveillance testing programs
  • To ensure that systems are in place to identify non-conformances relating to quality, legality, food safety plus Customer and Industry Codes of Practice and Guidelines on a regular basis. That these are reported to all managers on site and that such non-conformances are corrected within time scales agreed with the appropriate department
  • Manage technically led projects assigned to you, this will involve working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, ensure that these projects are completed on time as well as meeting internal, customer, third party and legal requirements
  • To provide and develop systems for monitoring recording and reporting product quality from both internal and external sources
  • To contribute fully to the continuous improvement in business performance as a member of the EIC Management team

Qualifications & Experience – Factory Technical Manager

  • Degree qualification in food science or equivalent.
  • HACCP Level 4 qualified.
  • Food Hygiene Level 4.
  • Recognised allergen qualification.
  • Must have minimum 2+ years technical / QA Management with exposure to private label retailer customer requirements.
  • Extensive practical experience of BRC accreditation, HACCP implementation, facilitation of customer audits and quality system management.
  • Previous experience within a chilled, ready to eat manufacturing facility.
  • HACCP/Pest Control experience.
  • Have technical credibility and be able to demonstrate this internally and with customers.
