As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead our team and elevate the business.


The Swan is a unique offer, with 11 charming hotel rooms, an inviting restaurant, a vibrant and picturesque bar and terrace with outside pizza kitchen, rotisserie and BBQ. We also specialise in hosting weddings and events, ensuring that every celebration is memorable and expertly managed.


The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced General/Operations Manager to lead our team and ensure the seamless operation of The Swan. This pivotal role demands a hands-on leader who is passionate about delivering outstanding guest experiences, optimising operations, and driving revenue growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  • You run the business like you own it, never compromising. You are the face and personality of the Swan you set the bar high in all areas.
  • Oversee daily operations across all departments, including hotel management, Housekeeping, restaurant service, bar & terrace operations, and event coordination.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance, ensuring targets are met and costs are controlled within pre-set budgets including wine and drinks costs, labour and non-consumables.
  • Monitor and improve supply chain (with your negotiation skills), oversee procurement and inventory management, nurture vendor relationships.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Youll be responsible for hiring, coaching and development.
  • Plan and coordinate weddings and events, ensuring every detail aligns with guest expectations
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, food safety and licensing regulations, as well as company policies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance guest satisfaction and operational efficiency
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote and attract guests.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with guests, suppliers, and the local community.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to negotiate terms.
  • Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements to enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Foster a positive team culture that encourages collaboration and innovation

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience as a General Manager within the hotel/hospitality industry and/or at least 8 years experience in a senior management role
  • A degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • WSET, Personal License Holder

Skills:

  1. Operational Knowledge: A strong understanding of hotel operations, including front office, housekeeping, food and beverage service, and maintenance.
  2. Financial Acumen: Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial management, Stocktaking, margins, revenue management and cost control and cost of sales.
  3. Customer Service Orientation: Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong focus on guest satisfaction.
  4. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to address issues quickly and effectively, making decisions under pressure.
  5. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, guests, suppliers and stakeholders.
  6. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with hotel management software (Res Diary, Guestline, Tevalis, Fourth Hospitality, MS Office Word, Outlook, Excel & Powerpoint)
