The Burford Recruitment Company are delighted to be working with a dynamic and friendly team providing payroll and bookkeeping services across various sectors, including hospitality and charities. As they prepare for the retirement of a valued team member, they are looking for a motivated and skilled Payroll and Bookkeeping Specialist to join their payroll team.

Role Overview:

In this position, you will primarily support the payroll operations, managing your own portfolio of clients each month. Your experience in practice settings and knowledge of payroll legislation will be invaluable as they provide comprehensive support to a diverse client base. You will also assist with bookkeeping tasks, ensuring a seamless service for clients who prefer a 'One Stop Shop’ for their financial needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage payroll for a variety of sectors, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current legislation.
  • Handle your own portfolio of clients using Sage and Xero payroll software.
  • Perform bookkeeping tasks, including bank reconciliations, ledger maintenance, credit control, and preparing supplier payments.
  • Act as a primary contact for clients, providing excellent communication and support.
  • Keep up-to-date with legislative changes and participate in ongoing training as required.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in payroll and bookkeeping, ideally in a practice setting.
  • Proficiency in Sage and Xero payroll software is highly desirable; Xero certification is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach.
  • Qualified or qualified by experience candidates will be considered.
