Maintenance Engineer

Our client is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join their dynamic team; this role is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and safety of their facilities. The successful candidate will work closely with the existing engineering team and report to the Facilities Manager, handling routine facilities maintenance, responding to breakdowns, and ensuring all machinery and equipment are in optimal working condition.

Day-to-day of the role:

Routine Maintenance:

  • Conduct routine facilities inspections to identify and resolve issues before they escalate.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks as per schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.

Equipment Repairs:

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Efficiently identify and rectify faulty components.
  • Ensure timely equipment repairs to minimize operational disruptions.

Emergency Response:

  • Provide prompt response to equipment breakdowns to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to address urgent maintenance issues outside regular hours.
  • Diagnose and resolve breakdown causes swiftly.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and parts inventory.
  • Prepare reports on equipment status and maintenance activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer, preferably in manufacturing or logistics.
  • Strong aptitude in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems - electrical bias preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work a 37-hour week across 7 days and availability for overtime.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering.
  • 17th Edition or higher qualification.
  • Experience with conveyor systems, packaging machinery, and industrial equipment.
  • Knowledge of PLC systems and fault finding.
  • Familiarity with CMMS is advantageous.
