Overview of the role:The purpose of the Structural Engineer role is to ensure that Civil/ Structural designs meet the highest standards with regards to safety, code compliance, scope alignment, quality, cost, and on-time delivery. In this role you will guide (and validate) Civil/ Structural designs to support project delivery, promoting structural efficiency and cost optimisation, without compromising safety, by effectively communicating design requirements with the design team and Project Engineer, in accordance with project programme deadlines. The Structural Engineer is a functional role providing a service into the project team(s).

Responsibilities are but not limited to:• Review project specifications and confirm scope of supply (including anticipated cost/ programme • impact) to the project team(s). • Prepare Civil/ Structural Basis of Design summary prior to commencing engineering works. • Produce analysis models to validate Civil/ Structural configurations, and to generate foundation loads. • Ensure analytical models are transferring loads as expected, and that axial forces & moments are • fixed/ released as stability (& connection design) demands. • Produce hand calculations to validate connection design. • Effectively communicate design requirements to the design team. • Checking of Civil/ Structural drawing output (as required) to ensure that the information within • reflects analytical models and calculations. • Prepare Civil/ Structural calculation reports for inclusion into the project technical file, and/ or for • customer approval as required. • Support CAT 2/ CAT 3 checking requirements with any supplementary information. • Attend sites, to conduct site and/ or condition surveys, and prepare reports on findings thereafter. • Attend project design/ model reviews as required, supporting discussions on interfacing and • tolerancing where applicable. • Attend client meetings as requested by the Project Engineer. • Update Project Engineer and Head of Civil/ Structural with progress against task on a weekly basis, • highlighting any blockers or foreseen issues as/ when they become evident. • Responsible for identifying any (internal/ external) changes to Civil/ Structural scope and escalating • to the Project Engineer to capture via the DCN process. • Identification, and escalation, of all Civil/ Structural Technical Queries (TQ) on the project.

To be considered for the role you will have:• Degree qualified in Engineering (Civil or Structural) • Experience working in a Civil / Structural Engineering field.• Knowledge of the construction & process industries and applicable standards.• Ability to use structural analytical software unaided (STAAD Pro or TEKLA Structures preferred). • Understanding of load cases and combinations, and ability to deduce that structures are behaving as intended through calculation or analysis.• Experience of good time management in a project delivery environment.• Strong attention to detail and committed to quality performance/ output.• Strong communicator with internal and external customers alike, with good presentation skills.
