Mortgages and savings business are looking to appoint a Head of Compliance to act as the approved person undertaking SMF16.  The role holder will monitor the businesses regulatory obligations, and advise and assist the business in complying with these.  The role holder will also lead and manage the compliance resource within the second line governance, risk and compliance team, act as MLRO & DPO also holding SMF17.

The business is located in Lancashire, and offer a very flexible hybrid working policy with 1 day per week in the office.

Role responsibilities.

Provision of timely, clear and pragmatic advice and support to the business on current and future requirements.

Production of an annual risk-based Second Line Monitoring Plan for approval by the Board Audit Committee and oversight of its timely delivery.

Track all assurance activity actions and validate actions prior to closure.

 Attend Management and Board Committees as appropriate.

Ensure the Compliance function is adequately resourced and managed.

Develop and maintain the businesses anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing policy in line with evolving statutory and regulatory obligations.

Support and coordinate management focus on the money laundering risk in individual business areas.

Assist management in developing and maintaining an effective anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing compliance culture.

In consultation with management, create and maintain the money laundering risk-based approach and the risk assessment of the firm's customers, products and services.

Inform and advise the business and its employees of their obligations under data protection laws and regulation and assist in the development and implementation of the risk based approach.

Arrange and deliver necessary data protection awareness and training for Board members and all employees and promote effective working practices.

Manage and conduct ongoing reviews of the data processing activities and data protection procedures and controls to obtain assurance the business is adhering to regulations.

Personal Attributes & Experience:

Ideally previously held SMF16 and / or SMF17

Broad regulatory compliance knowledge alongside an understanding of Financial Crime and Data Protection

Product knowledge of mortgages and/or savings would be an advantage
