My client is a market leading, well established organisation who are continuing to grow and have an opportunity for an Engineering Team Leader with an electrical bias to join their team. The Engineering Team Leader is responsible for improving the operational performance by safe and cost effective supervision of the engineering team on shift. They will actively seek and implement new maintenance and asset improvement methods.

You will be required to work on a shift basis which does not include weekends

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Typical Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring shift team response and adherence to equipment breakdowns and PPM schedules through effective resource planning and to the required engineering standard and timeliness.
  • Always promote a strong safety culture within the team and compliance to current procedures.
  • Liaise with Production Management on equipment breakdown prioritisation.
  • Review Maintenance activities and identify opportunities to improve cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure team compliance with current stores systems, including accurately recording all part movements, and using the historical data for improvement initiatives and for fault trending.
  • To diagnose faults, test, repair and maintain Mechanical equipment and machinery to relevant Engineering standard.
  • To service, adjust and repair machinery and equipment using the necessary tools in a safe and proper manner, and carry out planned, preventative and corrective maintenance to agreed schedules.
  • To observe, recognise and report on machinery or component defects or symptoms of impending failure.
  • Adhere to relevant H&S, quality, environmental and product safety procedures as well as isolation procedures, permits to work and any other legal and statutory regulations.
  • Use and support 5Whys/RCA/5s techniques and programmes.
  • To raise appropriate requisition for replacement parts as required.
  • To interpret and implement technical service instruction data relating to machinery.
  • Coaching of shift Engineers and operators with asset care tasks.
  • To examine machinery and equipment and report on condition, performance, and plan of action for improvements.
  • To keep their working environment safe, clean and tidy and adhere to Hygiene standards, procedures and work to a "clean as you go " policy.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential:Completed formal multi skilled apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering. NVQ3/C&G/ONC level.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to forge strong working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Highly organized, driven, and energetic, with a proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Self-starter; able to work independently, without supervision and as part of a proactive team.

  • Flexibility may be required outside of usual working hours to support critical or urgent situations.
