We are currently recruiting Special Education Needs (SEN) Assistants to provide support for special educational needs in primary education throughout Chorley. These roles encompass a range of SEN needs, including Autism, ADHD, behavioural challenges, cognitive delay, global delay, Down syndrome, and hearing impairments. You will be matched with the appropriate SEN requirement based on your experience, qualifications, and skill set.
As this position is focused on supporting special needs, a successful candidate must have prior SEN experience or a strong understanding of special needs and support. Please be aware that an interview or observation with the school may be required as part of the application process to ensure your suitability. Responsibilities:
- Prepare resources and activities for 1:1 support tailored to the child's needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers/SENCO to organise appropriate activities.
- Liaise with other professionals such as teachers, TAs, and specialist support staff.
- Work closely with other LSAs and support staff.
- Provide support to classes, small groups, and on a one-to-one basis.
- Monitor and track the development of the pupil and support their personal development and confidence.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with young people.
- Comfortable and confident in managing challenging behaviours.
- Ability to engage with and build rapport with young people.
- Creative, proactive, and flexible in supporting style.
- Experience with SEN or knowledge of learning difficulties.
- TA qualification.
