Are you an experienced Special Needs Assistant seeking a new opportunity in the Chorley area?If you have expertise in supporting children with diverse physical, emotional, and cognitive needs, and are passionate about enhancing their educational experience, this role might be perfect for you.

We are currently recruiting Special Needs Assistants to support primary education in Chorley, with an hourly rate of £13 - £14. You'll be working with children with a range of SEN needs, including Autism, ADHD, behavioural challenges, cognitive delay, global delay, Down syndrome, and hearing impairments. Your role will be matched based on your experience and skill set.

Ad hoc positions will involve providing general classroom support, assisting with preparation and covering temporary gaps, and supporting children individually or in small groups.For long-term roles, you'll be actively involved in supporting your assigned child or class, working closely with teachers, preparing resources, adapting content, and maintaining strong communication with staff and parents. Additional duties may include break/lunch support and assisting with school activities like assemblies and trips.

Experience with SEN is essential, and an interview or observation may be required as part of the application process.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare resources and activities tailored to the child's needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and SENCO to organize activities
  • Liaise with teachers, TAs, and support staff
  • Work with small groups or provide 1:1 support for children
  • Track and monitor pupil progress and development

Essential requirements:

  • Experience working with young people
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours
  • Strong communication and rapport-building skills
  • Creativity, flexibility, and a proactive approach
  • Experience with SEN or knowledge of learning difficulties
  • TA qualification
