As a Human Factors Specialist supporting the TRINITY programme, you will report to the Lead HFI Specialist and assist them in delivering User-Centred Design activities.

This could include: assessing Commercial-Off-The-Shelf equipment against system requirements / user needs; engaging with users to understand their goals and tasks; conducting detailed analyses to understand cognitive workload and human error; anthropometric assessment and workspace/workstation design; working with other engineering functions and disciplines to support their tasks.

  • Key activities Support Vigilant lead HFI specialist in the conduct of human factors activities and integration of HF into the TRINITY design
  • Conduct analyses such as hierarchical task analysis, allocation of function and usability assessments
  • Work with end user groups and HF stakeholders in workshops, trials and User-Centred Design activities
  • Assess prototypes/mock-ups of TRINITY hardware and software solutions
  • Produce reports and input to customer deliverables.

Skills required As a minimum, this role requires you to have:

  • A recognised degree or equivalent qualification in Human Factors, Ergonomics or Psychology
  • At least five years' experience of applying Human Factors methods in defence or safety-critical industry
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team on complex system integration and development projects
  • Preferably registered membership of the Chartered Institute of Human Factors (or eligibility for CIEHF Chartership via an equivalent body). This can include graduate membership.

Other Notes Must be able to typically attend BAES Christchurch office for three days per week.
