Global Technical & Quality Director
Dovetail Recruitment are working closely with a long standing FMCG client who are recruiting for a new Global Technical & Quality Director. The business design and manufacture a wide range of products for retailers across the world, with a large base in the UK and Asia.
At the heart of this role, is a focus on the group’s people. You will be creating strong engagement in each individual team, while also aligning the teams, to come together, and work as one. The foundations have already been laid out, and the business needs someone with a people focused mentality to create one very strong business unit, across the globe.
This company are open minded to new ways of working; innovation, R&D and sustainability are three essential elements of this role for you to build the strategy for, while aligning with the Product and Buying strategy.
Five key aspects you will be focusing on:
- People management, creating strong relationships with teams across the globe
- Creating your innovation and R&D strategy that aligns with the Product and Buying strategy
- Digitalising the current systems such as product lifecycle management systems
- Focusing on the sustainability strategy
- How to collaborate as one unit, globally, creating a central point of excellence
Overall responsibilities for the Global Technical & Quality Director:
- Creating the technical innovation strategy aligned to product & commercial strategies
- Forming manufacturing compliance, human rights due diligence, and sustainability strategies
- Develop and maintain technical guidelines, policies & standards
- Technical team leadership and mentoring
- Contribute to business strategy and operating plans
- Full budget ownership
- Technical team resource, skills & development and succession plans
- Manage technical aspects of supplier relationships in line with Solent policies & strategies
- Support development of sustainable, competent supplier base to deliver required technical & innovation standards
- Joint delivery of product development innovation at a strategic level
- Remain abreast of international trends in Food/Non-Food, Retail and Customer trends
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong people management skills - able to foster a positive team environment, and get teams to collaborate as one
- Experience at the technical or compliance level within an FMCG manufacturing business
- Experience in a customer facing role working with high street retailers
- Experience in technical development of both non-food and food consumer goods
- Experience working globally, understanding different cultures and attitudes
- Experience working with manufacturing partners and teams in Asia, notably China & Vietnam
- Awareness of legislation governing the sale of personal care, household goods and food products
