The Role

As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping students gain confidence, engage with their learning, and achieve academic and personal success. You'll work closely with teaching staff and external professionals to provide tailored support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build nurturing, trusting relationships with students.
  • Support student communication and engagement in class.
  • Deliver pastoral care in line with safeguarding practices.
  • Assist in implementing learning activities, including literacy and numeracy programs.
  • Record student progress and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Promote and model positive behaviour aligned with the school's values.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • English and Maths qualifications (GCSE or equivalent).
  • Experience working with young learners, particularly those with SEMH needs (KS2/3).
  • Strong numeracy, literacy, and ICT skills.
  • Ability to relate well to children and work collaboratively with a team.

Desirable:

  • Proficiency in Makaton.
  • Knowledge of relevant education policies and the national curriculum.
