Are you a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant with a background in SEN and behaviour support? A local mainstream primary school is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support in a class that has a high percentage of pupils who have additional and complex learning and behavioural needs. Therefore, if you have the relevant experience and you are seeking a new opportunity in school, this could be the perfect job for you!


About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils with diverse learning needs. An important part of this role will be planning and delivering small group interventions for children who require tailored provision both in and out of the classroom. The perfect candidate for this role will be proactive and confident in their ability to support and manage behaviour and well as helping promote pupil engagement with academic learning. The school prides itself on its inclusive ethos and therefore it is important that all pupils feel supported and cared for, where their behaviour and learning is nurtured by a strong staff team. Prior knowledge, understanding and experience working with children with autism and ADHD will be beneficial, as well as any behaviour management training for complex behavioural needs.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support and guidance to students, promoting their academic and personal development
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to create comprehensive support plans for pupils with SEN, including autism and ADHD
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and carers, promoting effective communication and collaboration
  • Being proactive and adaptable, taking into account the needs of the individual and tailoring support and strategies accordingly

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEN
  • Strong understanding of different SEN and effective strategies for supporting students, including behaviour management strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers
  • Dedication to promoting inclusion and equality in education
