SEN Teaching Assistant 

Location: Christchurch

Hours: Full-Time (Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm)

Start Date: ASAP

We are looking for motivated and compassionate individuals to join our team.

The school caters for primary and secondary pupils aged 6 - 16 years with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, ASD, and various other needs including trauma, school phobia Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD). All learners have an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). 

The successful Support Assistant will be required to work 1-1 with pupils, assisting them academically as well as overcoming barriers to learning and supporting them emotionally. You will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and emotional development of a child with special needs or challenging behaviour. Working closely with the class teacher and special educational needs coordinator (SENCO), you will create a positive and inclusive learning environment tailored to the individual needs of the student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to meet individual needs

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH or ASD
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive attitude and resilience
