About Us:
This Alternative Provision based in Chirstchurch provides a safe and nurturing environment for primary and secondary pupils aged 6 to 16 who have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and a variety of other challenges including trauma, school phobia, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD). Our dedicated team is committed to supporting learners on their journey to academic and personal success through individualised learning and therapeutic approaches.

The Role:
We are seeking a passionate and resilient SEN Teacher to join our alternative provision. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering tailored educational programs to our students, focusing on empowering them to thrive both academically and socially. Your role will involve:

  • Planning, delivering, and assessing engaging lessons that meet the diverse needs of our pupils, as outlined in their Educational, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Creating a safe and inclusive classroom environment that fosters positive relationships and encourages emotional well-being.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and support staff, to deliver holistic approaches to education and care.
  • Utilizing various teaching strategies and interventions to support students with SEMH needs, ASD, PDA, ODD, and other challenges.
  • Monitoring and evaluating pupil progress, maintaining accurate records, and providing feedback to parents and carers.
  • Promoting a positive school culture that values diversity and inclusion.

Who We鈥檙e Looking For:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A relevant teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) and experience working with children who have special educational needs.
  • A strong understanding of SEMH, ASD, PDA, ODD, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to teaching and learning.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to learn new strategies and approaches.
