Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation:
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks, such as washing, peeling, and chopping ingredients.
- Prepare simple dishes under supervision, ensuring adherence to hygiene and safety standards.
Cleaning and Hygiene:
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment.
- Ensure work surfaces, floors, and storage areas are kept clean and sanitized.
- Follow health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
Stock Management:
- Assist in unpacking and storing deliveries, ensuring proper stock rotation (FIFO).
- Monitor stock levels of kitchen supplies and inform the Head Chef or Manager of replenishment needs.
Team Support:
- Provide general support to the kitchen team during busy periods.
- Handle food waste appropriately, ensuring waste is minimized wherever possible.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or similar role is preferred but not required.
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Physically fit and capable of standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
