Hays is collaborating with a Cirencester-based school to appoint a dynamic, committed, and energetic teacher to join their successful and innovative Science Faculty. Your new role
Expectations need to be met from a teacher's standards perspective. Responsibilities for this teaching role include, but not limited to:
- Teach Science across all three disciplines at Key Stage 3 and GCSE.
- To work within a faculty of nine Science Teachers, supported by two technicians, in seven well-equipped laboratories.
- Follow the Key Stage 3 curriculum linked to "Exploring Science," teaching four 1-hour lessons per week.
- Use internal schemes with supportive materials such as help sheets, extension sheets, literacy sheets, homework sheets, and skill sheets.
- Teach mixed ability or set groups at Key Stage 3, with class sizes of around 28.
- Teach students to follow the AQA separate Sciences or AQA Trilogy Combined Science specification at Key Stage 4/GCSE.
- Utilise highly differentiated schemes of work and extensive ICT resources.
- Teach Biology, Physics, and Chemistry up to GCSE, with groups timetabled around staff specialisms where possible.
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as Year 7 'Whizz, Bang, Stink,' STEM clubs, and an Eco club.
- Engage in teamwork and share teaching resources within the faculty.
- Produce high-quality learning materials using excellent reprographic facilities.
- Take part in career development opportunities and INSET courses matching training needs and interests.
- Complete a full induction programme with guaranteed non-contact time to settle in.
- Receive full support as an Early Career Teacher (ECT), including an experienced subject mentor.
- Act as a form tutor under the guidance of the relevant Head of Year, playing a significant role in students' lives.
What you'll need to succeed
- Excellent subject knowledge in all three sciences (Biology, Physics, and Chemistry).
- Ability to teach Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
- Commitment to unlocking the potential of all students.
- Reflective practitioner with a desire for continuous professional development.
- The ability to work collaboratively within the faculty and the wider school community.
- Dedication to the role of form tutor, supporting students' overall development.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for participating in extracurricular activities.
