Nestled on the edge of historic Cirencester in the heart of the Cotswolds, our beautiful open-air swimming pool has been delighting visitors since Victorian times. Built in 1869, our natural spring-fed main pool and toddler pool offer a wonderful swimming experience for all. As a registered charity run by volunteers, we're passionate about providing a fantastic facility for our community and visitors alike.
The Role
We're seeking an enthusiastic and professional Duty Manager to help deliver an exceptional experience for our swimmers. You'll lead a team while on duty, ensuring the day-to-day operations run smoothly – from programming and staff supervision to maintaining health and safety standards, cleanliness, and first-class customer service.
This role requires flexibility with working hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and additional hours during busy periods (especially when the sun is shining!).
This season we offer a fixed hour contract, with a minimum 25 - 30 hrs per week, to our core team of Duty Managers. Zero hours contracts will be available to those looking for more flexible working.
You'll be a key part of our management team, actively promoting our values and contributing to our success.
What You'll Need
- Current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) - essential
- RLSS NPSQ - desirable
- First Aid qualification - desirable
- National Pool Plant Operators Certificate - desirable
- Excellent public management and communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and lead effectively
- Good level of fitness and water proficiency
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety:
- Ensure public safety both in and around the pools
- Manage lifeguard rotations and participate in lifeguarding duties
- Conduct regular pool water tests and maintain accurate records
- Uphold high standards of cleanliness throughout the facility
Operations & Customer Service:
- Set up and supervise pool activities according to schedule
- Maintain detailed shift records and complete necessary paperwork
- Provide excellent customer service and handle inquiries
- Support special events and social media updates
Team Management:
- Supervise lifeguards and volunteers on shift
- Work collaboratively with the manager, volunteers, and Trustees
- Support staff scheduling and development
