The Role

We are seeking a proactive and dedicated individual to manage and oversee the daily operations at the Council's Sports Facilities, ensuring the safety and well-being of both staff and customers while maintaining exceptional service standards. The Casual Duty Officer will be tasked with overseeing operations across three sports centres:

  • Clacton Leisure Centre
  • Dovercourt Bay Lifestyles
  • Walton on the Naze Lifestyle

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond effectively to general customer queries and provide exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Ensure sufficient staff coverage is in place to support scheduled activities and services, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Supervise and manage staff, ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities.
  • Serve as a key holder, assuming responsibility for the security of the premises, including buildings, equipment, and plant.
  • Provide visible leadership, motivating staff to perform at high levels of efficiency and professionalism.
  • Manage and maintain vending machines, ensuring they are stocked, clean, and in good working order.
  • Oversee the operational aspects of the Pool Plant, ensuring compliance with required standards and maintaining accurate records. Perform routine and emergency maintenance as required.
  • Undertake additional tasks as directed by the Centre Manager to support the smooth running of the facility.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
  • A Level 2/3 qualification in Leadership or Management, or comparable experience gained through professional development.
  • Depending on location, the following qualifications may be required:
    • RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or other recognised equivalent.
    • Pool Plant Operators Certificate or other relevant qualification.
  • A full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle.
