Operations Manager – Waste Collections
 

Salary: Up to £47,000 per annum + 17% performance bonus, £6k company car or cash allowance, and pension
Location: Colchester, Essex
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

About the Role:

As the Operations Manager, you will oversee a large team, ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations and service delivery. This is a growing company, and your focus will be on delivering services efficiently, maintaining high standards, and prioritising health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Ensure efficient service delivery, managing staff and resources while overseeing budgets and expenditures.
  • Fleet Management: Manage the daily operations of a large fleet of vehicles.
  • Leadership: Lead a diverse workforce, maintain a strong presence, and build positive relationships within a unionised environment.
  • Financial Management: Manage contract budgets and control costs.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure safety standards are met at both the depot and for the vehicle fleet.

About You:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in waste management or the transport sector (essential).
  • Qualifications: CPC in Road Haulage and a valid UK driving licence (essential).
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, business acumen, and financial management.
  • Desirable: IOSH, COTC qualifications, and experience in waste services.
