Position 1 Recruitment is seeking aMechanical Design Engineerto join a reputable manufacturing site based in Clacton-on-Sea. This role is perfect for an experienced professional passionate about engineering design, technical problem-solving, and collaboration.
As aMechanical Design Engineer, you will provide support to the CAD Technician and engineers, ensuring accurate and efficient design solutions. The role involves direct customer interaction, overseeing technical drawings, and contributing to the design and delivery of mechanical systems.


Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical descriptions of products and their components.
Oversee the preparation of technical drawings and specifications for workshops and customers.
Ensure compliance with standards and methods in technical drawings.
Act as a liaison between customers and suppliers to ensure smooth communication.
Propose solutions to customer enquiries and resolve issues promptly.
Oversee the preparation of revised drawings as needed.
Conduct site visits to survey installation areas and discuss client requirements.
Prepare and oversee programmes of work and system designs per customer requirements.
Supervise the CAD Technician to ensure project efficiency.
Assist the Sales Team with technical quotations.
Liaise with suppliers, engineers, and the sales department to meet project needs.
Prepare and design plantrooms and containers.
Interpret technical drawings and explain them to customers clearly.
Oversee transport arrangements for project delivery.
Maintain a comprehensive document audit trail for all projects.


Requirements:
Proven experience in engineering design with a deep understanding of mechanical systems.
Ability to work independently, achieve objectives, and take full accountability for tasks.
Essential proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.
Experience with Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Showcase, AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Mechanical 3D CAD is highly desirable.
Working Hours:
Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
