1st Staff are looking for Qualified Teachers for our own Independent Special Educational Needs School opening in Clacton in the coming months which will further expand the Alternative Provision of helping young people in Education and to continue doing what we love.

We are looking to appoint dedicated and enthusiastic qualified teachers for KS1-KS3 who will prove to be an outstanding addition to our school team.

Multiple positions are available, and hiring is ongoing to meet the wide variety of needs we support.

About Us:

1st Staff are one of the UK’s leading alternative providers working nationwide with specialist staff helping students from 4-25 years of age with both educational and therapeutic needs.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate would have a caring and friendly nature allowing them to build a rapport with young people. This role will involve providing Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), High functioning autism or ASD.

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in accordance with the school's curriculum.

  • Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback and support where necessary.

  • Create a safe and nurturing classroom environment that supports all pupils.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development activities.

You will work within one of our exciting and bustling school sites in Clacton utilising the excellent support systems in place. We have established teams on hand to guide you through experiences within each setting.

You will need to possessQualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Some of our students are working below age related expectation, therefore experience of delivering a KS1-KS3 curriculum would be advantageous but is not essential.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Outstanding classroom practice with a positive and resilient approach.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies.

  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet pupils’ needs.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding children and behaviour management strategies.

  • Have previous experience of working with children who have special educational needs.

  • Planning each session of teaching / tutoring / mentoring.

  • Good IT skills.

Requirements:

  • Experience in an SEMH/SEN environment is essential.

  • Qualified Teacher Status- (QTS) qualification is required.

  • Enhanced DBS (we can help obtain this at cost if needed).
