About the Role:
My client is seeking an experienced Engineering Team Leader to oversee the night shift engineering team. This role involves managing daily operations, prioritising breakdowns, and ensuring that production and hygiene teams receive a safe and efficient engineering service. You will take a hands-on approach, collaborating across departments, driving proactive maintenance, and ensuring machinery operates at peak efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for the night shift engineering team, escalating issues where necessary
  • Manage on-site contractors, ensuring safety and compliance
  • Oversee small projects within the team and drive PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) objectives
  • Ensure Health & Safety remains a priority in all activities
  • Identify and report any hazards that could impact food safety or workplace safety
  • Respond swiftly to breakdowns and communicate effectively with production teams
  • Diagnose faults, implement corrective actions, and propose continuous improvement initiatives
  • Work as part of a multi-skilled engineering team and participate in ongoing training
  • Ensure all maintenance work aligns with food safety regulations and best practices


Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Experience in a similar FMCG environment
  • Specific equipment knowledge (desirable)
  • IOSH training (preferred)
  • Time-served apprenticeship in Engineering
  • At least 5 years' experience post-apprenticeship
  • BTEC Level 3 or above in an Engineering discipline
