Lead Systems Engineer sought within Somerset division of global specialist equipment manufacturer offering comprehensive benefits package and further career development opportunities.
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the Lead Systems Engineer will be accountable leading empowering and motivating teams of Systems Engineers for specialised Manufacturing equipment. The Lead Systems Engineer will be ultimately responsible from concept through to installation and commissioning.
The Role
- Working within the engineering and product development teams using Systems Engineering tools and methods to bring clarity from uncertainty.
- Translate the product vision into clear and concise Requirements using Systems Engineering process such as Use Cases, Context Diagrams, Architectures and more.
- Use Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods to develop Functional, Logical, and Behavioural architectures to understand the operations and flow of the System.
- Work collaboratively with all engineering teams to clarify work packages, manage trade-off studies, and resolve engineering issues.
- Lead and coach a growing core team of Systems Engineers of all levels of expertise to continue their development.
- Contribute to the Systems Engineering process development and it’s integration into the wider company, educating other employees in Systems Engineering to resolve technical challenges.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple cross functional teams.
The Person
- Ideally a Systems Engineering Degree or demonstrable equivalent.
- Experience of practical application of best-practice Systems Engineering in a relatable engineering industry.
- Experience and understanding of working in a regulated, compliance-driven industry such as the semiconductor manufacturing equipment industry including product safety and compliance to applicable standards.
- Excellent influencing and negotiation skills at multiple organisational levels.
- Able to take ownership and control of a situation and bring people with them even though they may not be direct reports.
- High level of integrity and accountability with a results-driven mindset, able to set the standard, and hold people accountable to deliver.
- Experience of effectively coaching others.
