- Design, development and support of power and control circuits, both digital and analog
- New product implementation as part of the Design Team
- Research of electronics and power circuits
- Understand product requirements and implementation of these in the product and application, whilst understanding commercial and business requirements
- Follow departmental processes relating to management of designs and also the company-wide new product development processes.Â
- Working through product life cycle, from schematic, layout, proof of concept, supply chain, tests, approvals to product delivery
- Prepares and presents proposals and solutions to other members of the Design team and project stakeholders at design reviewsÂ
- Provide expertise on the customer application to guide the design process.
- Carries out detailed electronic circuit design and layout, including simulation and design verification testing of the new design.Â
- Component selection and management, considering obsolescence, availability and cost.Â
- Preparation of manufacturing packs for all PCB designs.
- Work with production, test and service to ensure that DFx engineering approach is followed, including manufacturing, test, service and financial
- Ensure product test strategy is implemented and followed throughout design
- Participates openly in peer reviews of other engineer’s designs.
- Documents design work and prepares reports, ensuring design files and information are kept up to date and stored in accordance with company procedures.Â
- Writing specifications and technical reports.
- Degree in Power Electronics, Embedded Electronics, Embedded Systems or equivalentÂ
- Experienced in hardware system designÂ
- Schematic and PCB layout (OrCad).Â
- Use of electrical test equipment such as PSU’s, Load banks, DMM/DVM, oscilloscope/analysers, signal/function generators.Â
- Creative and methodical approach to design and test.Â
- Analytical approach to fault finding.Â
- Use of software IDEs, development boards and emulators to assist with embedded programming an advantage.Â
- Microsoft Office products including Outlook, OneNote, Word, Excel and Teams/SharePoint.Â
- Agile management, including JIRA, would be an advantage
- 123 Insight knowledge an advantage.
