Raw Materials Coordinator

  • Location: North Somerset
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 08:45 to 16:45, Friday 08:45 to 16:00)

Reed Food & FMCG are representing a vibrant company in the food industry as they look to recruit a Raw Material Coordinator to work alongside their NPD team. This role is ideal for a highly motivated, energetic individual with a positive outlook, who is task-focused with great attention to detail and excellent communication skills. You will be an integral part of the NPD team, developing great tasting, commercially viable seasonings and flavours for a wide range of food products.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Proactively source new and provenance ingredients.
  • Represent NPD in raw material meetings.
  • Monitor the status of existing raw materials on the system, working with the supply chain.
  • Solve problems with Technical & Supply Chain on existing raw materials.
  • Keep the rest of the NPD team informed of changes in raw material status.
  • Evaluate and approve replacement raw materials in seasoning applications.
  • Work with Technical to streamline and manage the approval process for new raw materials.
  • Check the status of raw materials in recipes to be scaled up.
  • Interpret customer briefs, communicating with the account manager to develop appropriate products within specified timelines.
  • Develop innovative products, working with marketing to create presentations that showcase these.
  • Produce samples and relevant paperwork for submission to customers.
  • Manage NPD raw materials library, ensuring all materials are within shelf life and representative of production stock.
  • Support supply chain and technical in the resolution of raw material issues.
  • Participate in taste panels for QC of production batches.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised NPD lab.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to think outside the box.
  • Proactive initiative and a self-starter attitude.
  • Strong technical acumen ensuring all products and ingredients comply with safety and legal standards.
  • Experience in dealing with ingredient suppliers.
  • Passion for the food industry and staying updated on trends and innovations.
  • Commercial awareness of the supply chain, including cost management and production feasibility.
  • Solution-oriented mindset with tenacity and resilience.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and Outlook, including Word and Excel.
  • Excellent time management skills with a flexible approach to work.
  • Full Right to Work in the UK.
  • Full Clean Driving Licence.
