- Design, development and support of power and control circuits, both digital and analog
- Team lead
- Sprint project planning with daily stand-ups for the Design team
- Communicating design strategies to assist with product development and goals
- Prepares and presents proposals and solutions to other members of the Design team and project stakeholders at design reviews
- Provide technical support, know how and guidance to the Design team
- Training and development plans for team members
- New product implementation as part of the Design Team
- Research of electronics and power circuits
- Understand product requirements and implementation of these in the product and application, whilst understanding commercial and business requirements
- Follow departmental processes relating to management of designs and also the company-wide new product development processes.
- Working through product life cycle, from schematic, layout, proof of concept, supply chain, tests, approvals to product delivery
- Provide expertise on the customer application to guide the design process.
- Collaborate with and support leading experts and academics in the company Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
- Support of existing products, understanding life cycle and MTBF, managing hardware/firmware issues whilst involves working closely with the customer (internal or external)
- Apply problem solving techniques
- Projects may require interfacing with third party products and dealing directly with sub-contractor design teams.
- Overseeing development of firmware and software for the existing and next generation of charge controls, actively applying newer technologies and frameworks to futureproof solutions and internal capability
- Use logic and mathematical modelling approach for product simulation
- Deliver against quality standards throughout the application, process and product delivery
- Ensure all relevant safety regulations are met in design activities/areas, including actively reporting near misses.
- Attends training as required, develop skills and knowledge keeping up to date with latest technology.
- Work with Design and project teams for project planning
- Provide technical training on new products to all key departments, e.g. Service, System Test, Production, Engineering and Sales.
- Degree in Power Electronics, Embedded Electronics, Embedded Systems or equivalent
- Experienced in hardware system design
- Schematic and PCB layout (OrCad).
- Use of electrical test equipment such as PSU’s, Load banks, DMM/DVM, oscilloscope/analysers, signal/function generators.
- Creative and methodical approach to design and test.
- Analytical approach to fault finding.
- Use of software IDEs, development boards and emulators to assist with embedded programming an advantage.
- Microsoft Office products including Outlook, OneNote, Word, Excel and Teams/SharePoint.
- Agile management, including JIRA, would be an advantage
- 123 Insight knowledge an advantage.
