Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:30 AM - 03:30 PM, 190 contact days, 5 inset days

PERMANENT POSITION
Smart Education is currently recruiting for a Non-Qualified Teacher of SEN to work with a growing special education setting in Worcestershire, providing PSHE education to students aged 11-19 in a unique outdoor learning environment.
We are looking for a passionate individual with experience in supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and helping them meet both academic and pastoral targets. The ideal candidate will be able to build strong, trusting relationships with students and effectively communicate with both students and professionals in a nurturing, inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver creative, target-based Schemes of Work, focusing on the individual needs of students with autism.
- Advocate for and incorporate outdoor learning into lessons.
- Lead progression in students’ academic and personal growth related to autism and associated behaviours.
- Foster positive relationships with students, providing emotional security and support.
- Mark students' work in line with policies and provide constructive feedback.
- Use assessment tools to monitor and report on student progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues and professionals, ensuring a holistic approach to student development.
- Contribute to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Ensure a safe, engaging learning environment that takes into account sensory needs and individual requirements.
Essential Experience & Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience supporting children with ASC.
- Understanding of behaviour management techniques, with an emphasis on resolution and reflection.
- Ability to work collaboratively with professionals, parents, and carers.
- Experience in outdoor learning and a commitment to embracing non-traditional teaching methods.
- Strong communication skills and a resilient, solution-focused approach.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Team Teach qualification or similar in safe handling techniques.
- First Aid certification.
- Autism Level 1&2 qualification (desirable).
