- To work with internal customers to develop and define the scope of projects / modifications
- To provide a full mechanical and maintenance design service, meeting all project/maintenance requirements, including the preparation of drawings and documentation
- To carry out design calculations (and check calculations of others) ensuring full compliance with all relevant codes, standards and EHS requirements
- To explore, select and prepare full specifications for engineering items in order to satisfy bespoke requests
To accept delegated responsibility for purchasing and procurement in order to meet cost and timescale targets
- Plan, organise and provide technical support for internal and external technicians during the installation, and commissioning of modifications or projects
Scope
- Contributing to Hazard Studies, PHRs, design reviews and project reviews
- Obtaining quotations and placing orders for specialist designs, equipment and installation services
- Liaising with suppliers to obtain technical data and support
- Hosting visits from suppliers
- Working with onsite customers from projects, production, maintenance and support departments to ensure that each design meets the requirements of the end user
- Developing bespoke designs to improve the performance of the various production plants
- Providing mechanical engineering expertise to the site.
Skills/experience required
HNC in Mechanical Design or equivalent
Significant practical design experience within a process or manufacturing environment
Experience of working with PED/PSSR and piping systems
Experience of using CAD packages
Experience of preparing functional design specifications and engineering estimates
