Bardon is Aldi’s first globally automated site with the MHE maintenance team pivotal to the site’s success. Aldi require Maintenance Section Leaders who will be empowered to shape Aldi’s future and tackle some of the toughest technical and logistical challenges around. We need your technical skills, innovative approach, and experience to help us continue to transform our business whilst maintaining a cost leadership model. A key element of the role will be to lead the MHE engineering department, ensuring agreed SLAs are achieved and the site operation is always supported to achieve KPI’s.  

Prior to the opening of Bardon, the role will be based within National Supply Chain at Atherstone National Head Office

Your New Role:

  • Responsible for leading the MHE maintenance department, ensuring availability and reliability of operational equipment is achieved to the highest degree.
  • To mentor, guide, monitor and develop the team in a way that promotes Aldi values and behaviours whilst supporting the requirements and activities to deliver in full, on time, every time.
  • Support the implementation of Continuous Improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure that H&S standards are designed into maintenance tasks and modifications. Implementing and monitoring risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Manage the maintenance calendar ensuring all maintenance procedures are completed to excellent standards enabling high performance and reliability of the equipment.
  • Support audits of site performance and challenge current maintenance strategies to ensure maximum value is maintained.
  • Prioritise and plan MHE repairs with minimal disruption in line with business needs.
  • Management of legislative requirements of maintenance on equipment e.g. LOLER Certification
  • Control the engineering staff and non-staff spend, identifying savings where possible.
  • Delivering performance KPI’s such as safety compliance, spares management, cost control and maintenance turnaround.
  • Maintain all documentation relating to MHE maintenance and performance.
  • Identify obsolescence risk and manage total asset lifecycle of equipment.
  • Responsible for supporting the onsite training team by providing technical specific elements of MHE training to frontline colleagues.
  • Complete 1-1’s, PR’s (Personal Reviews), furthermore identifying and supporting development requirements for direct reports within their team.
  • Responsibility for the staff Rota ensuring site engineering coverage is maintained with cost consideration
  • Allocating resources, providing delivery timelines, and managing priorities.
  • Ensuring all operational expectations and daily ordering fulfilment are met.
  • An active member of the engineering & maintenance team, advising on site safety, condition, and performance.
  • Manage Aldi expectations and relationships through excellent communication explaining complex problems in simple terminology.
  • Identify talent within the site and recommend individuals for development and succession planning.

  • Starting salary £44,880 rising to £48,130
  • You’ll work a 5-day week, with 40 or 45 hour contracts available (including weekends)
