We have an exciting opportunity for a Timber Frame Designer to join our team within Vistry Works, to be based at our factory in Warrington or Bardon, East Midlands. As our Timber Frame Designer, you will be responsible for the preparation, design and coordination of both new closed and open panel timber frame designs and Building Information Models.  Working in conjunction with  external manufacturers and suppliers and the internal production team.

    • A a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role elsewhere, either in Modern Methods of Construction or Offsite Manufacturing/Construction
    • You will have experience of 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit or Inventor. Competency in using WoodEngine, Consultec, Horizon, HSBcad or similar software is ideal for the role but not essential as training will be provided
    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word and Teams
    • You will have an understanding of materials/components used in the construction of low-rise buildings
    • You will need to be self-motivated, with the ability to work on your own initiative and manage your workload based on regional priorities
    • You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to form and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
    • Revit & Pamir experience would be advantageous but not essential
    • Experience with steel detailing advantageous but not essential
    • Experience with designing trussed roofs would be advantageous but not essential
    • Experience with “I” Joist floor design would be advantageous but not essential
    • An understanding of current building regulations would be beneficial
    • Qualification in Architectural Technology would be advantageous but not essential

    • Producing accurate and efficient wall and floor panel designs in line with specification, including producing cutting lists and CNC files for the factory
    • Co-ordinating 3rd party floor & roof information ensuring accuracy and completeness
    • Producing accurate Bills Of Materials and ancillary Take-offs
    • Giving consideration to CDM regulations during the design process
    • Providing technical assistance to site teams and factory colleagues, as and when required
    • Continuous product development and innovation
    • Consideration of CDM regulations always during design
    • Attending regular production meetings and site feedback meetings as requested
    • Any other ad hoc duties that may required from time to time, as directed by the team leader
