Job Title: Distribution / Operations Manager

Location: Bardon Hill, Coalville

Salary: 40,000-45,000 + Benefits

Hours Friday to Monday 7am 7pm

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Distribution / Operations Manager to oversee our multi-distribution centre (DC) operations. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and operational expertise to drive efficiency, productivity, and continuous improvement across our logistics network.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5 direct managers and oversee a workforce of 250 delegates across multiple distribution centres.

Operational Excellence: Ensure seamless operations across all DCs, optimizing workflows, processes, and inventory management to achieve business objectives.

Strategic Planning: Develop and implement logistics strategies to enhance distribution efficiency and meet key performance indicators (KPIs).

Process Improvement: Identify and implement best practices in warehouse management, order fulfilment, and transportation to drive cost savings and service improvements.

Compliance & Safety: Maintain compliance with all relevant health, safety, and regulatory requirements across all operational sites.

Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal departments (sales, procurement, finance, HR) and external partners (suppliers, carriers) to ensure smooth supply chain operations.

Technology & Innovation: Leverage logistics and warehouse management systems (WMS) to enhance visibility, tracking, and reporting across operations.

Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, cost controls, and operational expenditures to ensure financial efficiency.

Performance Monitoring: Establish and track operational metrics, conducting regular reviews to drive continuous improvement.

Crisis Management: Develop and implement contingency plans for operational disruptions to minimize impact on supply chain and customer service.

Key Requirements:

Proven experience in a senior logistics, operations, or distribution management role, preferably in a multi-site environment.

Strong leadership skills with experience managing large teams and multiple DCs.

Excellent knowledge of warehouse operations, supply chain management, and logistics best practices.

Experience with logistics technology, including WMS, TMS, and ERP systems.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to drive operational efficiencies.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Knowledge of health and safety regulations within distribution and warehousing.

Strong financial acumen, with experience in budget management and cost control.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Professional certifications such as CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport) or APICS.

Experience working with Lean / Six Sigma methodologies.
