Mac recruit Group require an Estimator (with Fabrication background) for our client, a UK leading customer focused manufacturer offering turnkey steel solutions. This role is based in their office just outside of Glasgow.

Estimator duties & responsibilities:

Prepare detailed estimates by analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation. Ensure accurate pricing for materials, labour, and equipment involved in fabrication.
Review project requirements and identify the most cost-effective and efficient methods of production, factoring in manufacturing capabilities and capacities.
Obtain and evaluate material, labour, and subcontractor pricing for projects. Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure accurate pricing on components and materials.
Work closely with engineering teams to clarify designs, specifications, and any changes
Prepare formal bids for projects, including detailed breakdowns of materials, labour, and overhead costs. Present bids to management and customers as required.
Monitor project budgets and report on variances between actual costs and estimates. Propose cost-saving opportunities where applicable.
Engage with clients to understand project scopes, address inquiries, and provide clarity on estimates and timelines.
Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and cost-related information for each project.
Stay up to date with industry trends, material prices, fabrication technology advancements, and best practices to improve the accuracy and competitiveness of estimates.

Estimator requirements:

Experience in cost estimating within the fabrication/ engineering / manufacturing industry
Related degree in engineering or construction engineering
Fabrication background
Driving licence

Estimator salary & benefits:

£50,000 - £60,000
