Our client is a dynamic civil engineering contractor based in Glasgow, delivering a wide range of services—from infrastructure and multi-utility installation to operating their own quarries. With a strong commitment to high standards, modern equipment, and skilled people, they’re now seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to join their team.
About the Role:This is a key position responsible for the management, compliance, and operational performance of a fleet of lorries that transport materials from the company’s quarries to civil engineering and construction sites across the region.
You’ll ensure that the fleet operates safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with all transport regulations. This role requires someone who’s hands-on, highly organised, and confident in managing both people and vehicles in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance schedules of a fleet of quarry-service lorries.
- Ensure full compliance with DVSA regulations, including tachograph analysis, vehicle inspections, and driver hours.
- Manage vehicle servicing, repairs, MOTs, and breakdown response.
- Maintain up-to-date fleet records, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation.
- Liaise with insurers on fleet-related claims and renewals.
- Supervise and support drivers, ensuring all licensing and training requirements are met.
- Use fleet management software to track performance and cost-efficiency.
- Proven experience in managing HGV fleets, ideally in a quarrying, construction, or logistics environment.
- CPC qualification is essential.
- Excellent knowledge of transport compliance, fleet operations, and relevant legislation.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Experience with fleet management software and reporting tools.
- A proactive, safety-first approach and a full UK driving licence.
