Our client is one of the largest construction companies within the UK with internationally-renowned experience in the successful delivery of technically demanding, multi-disciplinary and logistically complex projects.
They now have a requirement within their Highwaysteam for a Carbon Manager on the Lower Thames Crossing project in Kent
Responsibilities
Work with Head of Carbon, Environment and Sustainability (LTC) and the wider RNoT carbon team todeliver the carbon commitments
Manage the development of carbon route map plans and strategies as required by carboncommitments and targets
Deliver the Highways Carbon Management System and Carbon and Energy Management Plan onLTC
Report project carbon management performance to the Highways Head of Carbon
Support the development of carbon management resource & document templates
Design, implement and track carbon training
Embed and support carbon management within a range of project functions and processes whereapplicable, such as procurement, commercial, plant management & logistics.
Responsibility for project client carbon reporting & deliverables, including baselines, forecasts,progress reporting and carbon accounting where relevant
Provide support and guidance to the project teams on carbon assessment and carbon impacts
Manage and deliver the LTC technical inputs for the Certification to PAS 2080 (maintain evidence,attendance in audits etc.)
Maintain a carbon and resources opportunity register as per the PAS 2080 process
Review and assure all deliverables related to carbon from RNoT including from enterprise partnersand the supply chain
Promote and encourage low carbon innovations from enterprise partners and the supply chain
Manage and support the development and submission of low carbon enhancements and incentive business cases and implementation
Support with technical delivery groups on low carbon fuel, asphalt, concrete and steel
Support effective day to day management of carbon team members in a manner that embodies the company values.
This role will include regional travel to support several projects and a company car will be provided.
The individual
A science-based background i.e. relevant BSc or equivalent qualification in Environmental Science,Sustainability, Carbon, Energy or similar is essential;
Sustainability/carbon/energy or similar MSc is desirable
A sound understanding of carbon impact/mitigation issues on major infrastructure schemes
Working knowledge of LCA reporting
Good understanding of carbon reporting standards, guidance and regulatory regimes for examplePAS 2080 (2023)
Experience in integrating low carbon resilient solutions into infrastructure design and construction
Proficiency in Office applications and use of analytical tools
Understanding of the benefits of working collaboratively to obtain the best outcome for the project
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Determination to see tasks through to completion, with excellent planning and organisation skills
Member of a relevant professional body is desirable
