We are seeking a dedicated Progress Mentor to join our team, providing specialised support to students with various educational needs. This role is crucial in aiding students with communication, cognition and learning, behavioural, emotional and social, or physical/sensory difficulties. The successful candidate will be directly responsible to the SENDCo and will play a key role in planning and delivering effective interventions.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Support students with diverse needs including communication and learning difficulties, physical/sensory challenges, and behavioural issues.
  • Lead and plan specialist support areas, delivering targeted interventions under the direction of the SENCO.
  • Monitor and record the impact of interventions using Bromcom.
  • Provide mentoring to foster independence among students.
  • Manage student behaviour in the classroom to minimize distractions.
  • Offer feedback to teachers on pupils’ learning needs.
  • Assist in the transition processes for students between key stages and contribute to the assessment and recording of student progress.
  • Engage with parents and external agencies, maintaining detailed documentation of all interactions.
  • Disseminate SEND information and provide training to other staff members.
  • Continuously develop professional practice in collaboration with the SENDCo and/or Deputy SENDCo.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Good standard of education, including GCSEs in English and Maths.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a school environment.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Packages, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SEND areas relevant to the role.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under pressure.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to confidentiality.
