Teaching Assistant - Alternative ProvisionWe are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive Teaching Assistants to join the dynamic team within a small alternative provision. You will work closely with students who require additional support, both academically and emotionally, and assist our teaching staff in delivering personalized learning plans. The role will involve supporting students on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, and in whole-class settings, ensuring that each individual feels valued and supported throughout their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with learning difficulties, social, emotional, and behavioural needs in line with their individual education plans.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and interventions to meet students' specific needs.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support, promoting positive behaviour and helping students to engage with the curriculum.
  • Encourage student participation and self-confidence, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Help with classroom management and ensure students' safety and well-being.
  • Work closely with other professionals, including SENCOs and external agencies, to provide a holistic approach to support.
  • Assist in monitoring and tracking student progress and contribute to assessments and reports.
  • Support the preparation of classroom resources and materials.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people, particularly those with special educational needs or behavioural challenges, is desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to working with children and young people.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive and flexible attitude to supporting students' learning.
  • A willingness to undergo relevant training and professional development.
  • Knowledge around young people and mental health
