This school is a nurturing and inclusive SEND setting, dedicated to supporting the individual needs of every child. We are looking for someone who's happy to work in a homely environment with lots of support and guidance from other members in the team. Their dedicated SEN team is seeking a compassionate and experienced teacher to lead a class of children with Down syndrome in their primary group for three months with the view of it potentially being the full year.
The Role:We are looking for a passionate SEN teacher to inspire and support a small group of primary-aged children with Down syndrome. You will work closely with a team of teaching assistants, therapists, and parents to create an engaging, inclusive, and supportive environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver differentiated lessons aligned with individual education plans (IEPs).
- Foster the social, emotional, and academic development of children with Down syndrome.
- Implement creative and engaging teaching strategies tailored to each child's abilities.
- Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and families to ensure holistic support.
- Monitor and assess progress, adapting plans as necessary.
- Promote a positive and inclusive classroom culture.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience working with children with Down syndrome or other learning disabilities.
- Strong understanding of SEN strategies, particularly in early communication and developmental needs.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to teaching.
