Permanent Finance Business Partner Vacancy

Salary to £70,000 p/a

25 days + statutory holiday

SF Recruitment are pleased to be exclusively partnered with a c.£50m t/o subsidiary of a privately owned specialist engineering retalier and distributor to a major global market. Part of a growing, forward thinking group with sound foothold in the market, this is an exciting opportunity for a Finance Business Partner to manage a small local team in Chesterfield, undertaking a typical business partnering commercial role whilst getting involved in the on-boarding of the local subsidiary onto the in-house integrated ERP system by early 2025. 

The site is based close to motorway links on the outskirts of Chesterfield with free parking on site and is a key part of the group structure and supply chain.


Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Production and review of the month end accounts (income statement/ balance sheet) , understanding variances and identifying opportunities to improve performance
  • Support the installation of the new ERP system in 2025. Liaise with FBPs in other group businesses to ensure that the new ERP system is aligned with other centralised group businesses
  • Control cashflow and provide cashflow information to management
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders - senior operational team including directors, central finance team and local team
  • Provide a business partnering service to the business unit, both supporting and challenging the management team in delivering on its goal to maximise ROI / profit share
  • Development and interpretation of insightful analytical tools to drive the business forward and maximise profit share generation i.e. profitability analysis, overhead cost analysis, stock analysis (including part level ROI impact of holding stock)
  • Influencing the strategic decision-making process, and developing forecasting models to support business planning
  • Maximising finance and other business systems to develop a suite of management information to serve the developing needs of the leadership team
  • Encouraging a strong financial control environment
  • Being the main point of contact for the external auditors.
  • Management of Purchase Ledger / Admin team (2 people)

About you:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA) 
  • Experience in managing change including new ERP implementation
  • Experience in an inventory led ERP system
  • Attention to detail and willing to get hands dirty where necessary, particularly when managing through the early stages of change
  • Comfortable playing a role as a partner alongside line management, supporting them in the delivery of their financial performance
  • Pragmatic, but business-focused approach
  • Demonstrable experience with an understanding of privately-owned businesses
  • Ability to see and execute opportunities to improve processes both in Finance arena and the wider business
  • A self-starter, willing to commit to a plan of action and carry it out, seeking direction where appropriate
  • Ability to introduce and play a governance role across key commercial decisions
