Our client, a global manufacturing organisation, is looking to appoint an Operations Manager to join their team in Cockermouth.

Reporting to the Director, you will have responsibility of managing operations involving materials preparation, extrusion, toolmaking, compounding, moulding, finishing and inspection processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with planning, configuration, customer service, procurement, and engineering teams to ensure exceptional service levels for both internal and external clients
  • Manage all manufacturing operations on site- materials preparation, extrusion, toolmaking, compounding, moulding, finishing and inspection processes
  • Improve Health and Safety performance of the business
  • Set, measure and report KPI's focusing on cost, delivery, quality and service
  • Develop a strong, customer-oriented culture that emphasizes the importance of getting things right the first time, fostering a 'can do' attitude across the manufacturing teams.
  • Offer robust and captivating leadership, acknowledge achievements, oversee the number of staff, enhance the abilities of managers and supervisors, ensure that every worker gets suitable training and manage performance
  • Reduce costs, streamline operations, implement automation and best practices, and adopt a culture of continuous improvement in manufacturing.

The person:
  • Excellent communication, numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge and application of material processing/manufacturing techniques
  • Implement and measure KPI's
  • Understanding and knowledge of Lean/Continuous improvements
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Setting and management of revenue and capital budgets and expenditure
  • Working knowledge of materials compounding, extrusion processes, compression and injection moulding techniques
  • Degree in Engineering/Sciences/Manufacturing
  • Recognised Lean/Continuous improvement qualification
  • Health and Safety qualification
