Assistant Management Accountant

Accountancy Recruit is partnering exclusively with a nationwide retailer and supplier of trade products in the recruitment of an Assistant Management Accountant based at the head office in Colchester. The purpose of the role is to support the Management Accountant is all areas of monthly management accounts and to develop your skills in financial analysis. This is a commercial role that will develop your career, support study and enable you to become an integral part of a busy finance team.

• Assisting the Management Accountant in the preparation of monthly management accounts using SAP including reporting on variance analysis
• Assisting with month-end reporting: summarize financial performance, review financial statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, and identifying key performance indicators.
• Assist in the analysis of revenue, costs and project spend in support of the management team
• Assisting in the preparation of month end balance sheet reconciliations  
• Supporting month end close of accounts and cashbook reconciliations    
• Month end journals: reviewing, and reconciling financial transactions                      
• Reconciliation of daily cash and payment balances            
• Completion of ONS returns
• Preparation of VAT returns
• To assist with company policies and procedures compliance
• Assist in year-end analysis to support audit, statutory accounts and corporation tax processes

• Currently studying AAT, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent
• 3 years + working within a financial environment
• High level of computer literacy
• Confident Excel user (VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, pivot tables etc)
• Demonstrating a professional, focused and committed approach to achieving your full potential
• A team player
• A retail accounts back ground would be an advantage
• Demonstrate a desire to add value to the broader business
• Able to work with imperfect systems and processes, desire to achieve continuous improvement of processes and willingness to influence positive change
